Ghost of the woods

IMG_2674

Evening folks…I have spent more time trying for bobcat photos than any other critter here in New England. I do feel fortunate to have photographed them a few times. I still want to photograph one with some fresh snow on the ground, maybe this is the year…..Happy

Evening folks…this was a nice way to end the week. I went to check on my remote camera setup this morning, as it was crappy here this morning, and to my delight I had a few nice captures of this Bobcat…Happy

Evening folks…I had another good night with the remote camera photographing a bobcat. This is a rather large cat and I'm hoping it's a male coming in to mate with the local female. I would love to have the chance to photograph some kittens this year….Happy

In many ways it is more difficult to use a remote camera, one has to try to predict where the subject is going to be, get usable exposure without being there and hope that the click you get is a pleasing pose, it’s all a challenge but fun…Happy

Bobcat using a Camera-Trap

_MG_0141

Evening folks…I haven't had much luck photographing the Bobcats this year as they have been active when there is no light to photograph them…Sad So I designed and built a remote camera setup (Camera-Trap) to try to photograph them at night. On Friday at 9:42 PM I captured this cat smelling Bobcat urine that I had placed on this log to attract them. Needless to say I'm very satisfied as how well the system worked….Happy National Geographic has been using systems like this for years to capture elusive critters.

I bought a GameCamera the other day to spy on a beaver hole on the other side of the pond. I was hoping the beavers were coming out during daylight hours for a photo op. I installed the camera yesterday and went to retrieve the card today. I was a bit surprised when I saw this as the first picture!
