Building the main structure....

Once the foundation was completed I started on the main structure. The structure is to be 2 floors, the bottom being a tool shed and the upper housing the observatory.
Deck...

I started with a 8 foot diameter deck cantilevered off the 5 foot diameter foundation. I used Hilti 1/2 X 3 1/2" concrete anchors with angle aluminum to anchor the deck to the foundation. Next "Flex-Track"  was used to form 2 - 94" diameter circles to frame the 12 foot high walls, the Flex-Track actually worked very well for this.
Siding....

11/32" T-111 was used for the siding, there was a debate whether the 4 X 8 foot sheet would bend around the 94" diameter..... it worked fine. I only sided the bottom 8', I wanted to install the plywood ring before siding the last 4 foot just to be sure the structure was round at the top. I plan on adding battons later so it appears to be board and batton siding.

The deck framimg is all 2" X 8" PT covered with PT 5/4 decking.

Almost Finished!....

The Massapoag Pond Observatory almost finished on the outside! The stain went on over the Labor Day weekend. I still have the door to build on the upper level off the deck to enter the observatory. The pier still needs to be poured and that will happen this weekend.
Being Domed!....

The dome being installed on 8/19/06 with the help of the neighbors.
