8P/Tuttle
is a periodic comet in our solar system. After a
13.6-year absence, Comet 8P/Tuttle was once again
traveling through the inner solar system. The
closest approach to Earth was on Jan. 1st and
2nd, 2008. On December 30, 2007 it was in close
conjunction with spiral galaxy M33. Comet
8P/Tuttle is responsible for the Ursid meteor
shower in late December.
